Ecology / Making Kin
Styled as a traditional artist residency with studio space and uncluttered time to reflect and work in a beautiful setting, this session is not only open to artists and writers but also cultural producers, thinkers and doers of all stripes. Applicants do not have to be artists working with, on or about “nature.” We strongly encourage practitioners concerned with social ecology and the relations between people to apply. Emerging, mid-career and established practitioners are welcome, which includes activists, healers, architects, planners, NGO leaders, farmers, etc.
Applicants will be required to submit a description of a specific ecologically themed project they are working on or plan to work on. The focus of the residency within the broader theme of ecology will be “kin.” We are interested in practitioners and projects working to expand and deepen our notion of kin.
Applicants will be selected on the strength of their work samples and also strength of the proposed project. Diversity of projects in making final admission decisions will also be considered.
