ABOUT MARBLE HOUSE PROJECT
Mission
Marble House Project (MHP) is a multi-disciplinary residency on an historic property in the Green Mountains and a forum for art and ecology. We bring together artists, thinkers, and practitioners from diverse fields to live and create in an atmosphere of openness and ecological attention. Through our public programming, we find connections and build community. We share our belief in the important role art plays in society: it shapes values, imagines futures, reveals the unseen and enriches lives. Everything we do is rooted in generosity– a key ecological principle.
Residency
Marble House Project launched the Artist Residency Program in the summer of 2014. Each year, we host six residency sessions each lasting three weeks, and one 17-day residency for artists and their families.
Artists groups are multidisciplinary, which include artists working in film and video, literature, visual arts, music and composition, dance and performance. Our residency program is uniquely curated to bring together a diverse group of artists to facilitate exchange of different expertise, histories, techniques and perspectives.
In 2017, Marble House Project introduced two new programs: The Culinary Artist Residency and The Collaborative Residency.

Sustainable Practice
Marble House Project includes an organic farm and is committed to sustainable practices and the conservation of natural resources.
We grow as much of our own organic food as possible to meet the needs of our residency program.
We respect our soil and watershed, so we never use chemical fertilizers or pesticides.
We maintain a low-waste campus by conserving water and energy, composting, recycling, and locally sourcing materials and labor.
Many of our residents choose to deepen their awareness of our practices by participating in the planting and harvesting on our farm.
